Movie Ratings System

The Motion Picture Association of America sets the standard for movie ratings in the US. Listed below are the ratings and what they mean.

G General Audiences All ages admitted
PG Parental Guidance Suggested Some material may not be suitable for children.
PG-13 Parents Strongly Cautioned Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.
R* Restricted Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian.
NC-17** No one age 17 and under admitted.

*Carmike Cinemas' policy regarding "R" rated movies is that no one under the age of 17 admitted without parent or legal guardian. ID is required for the purchase of an "R" rated movie ticket if patron looks underage. The parent or guardian must accompany the child into the theatre. Please DO NOT ask us to violate this policy. Our employees are NOT permitted to make exceptions.
